ReVie: Reviving Lives
Since 2016, Burkina Faso has been facing a security crisis and intercommunity conflicts with unprecedented political, psychological, health and socioeconomic consequences. While women are paying the heaviest price for this crisis, they are also the pillars of family survival, in a context where many men have been forced into exodus. This responsibility makes them more vulnerable to certain scourges such as sexual harassment, prostitution, begging, etc. Their psychological fragility due to the trauma they have suffered remains a significant obstacle to their reintegration into the economic and social fabric of the host communities.
The ReVie project is an initiative dedicated to the protection, medical care, and psychosocial restoration of survivors of violence in a context of severe security crisis. Designed to meet the needs of the most vulnerable women in the Centre-East region, this project combines awareness raising, training, and economic reintegration to restore the dignity and autonomy of survivors.
Actions taken include:
-
Strengthening protection: Raising awareness among communities on gender-based violence (GBV) and establishing endogenous protection mechanisms.
-
Economic reintegration: Technical training, provision of installation kits, and support for income-generating activities.
-
Economic reintegration: Technical training, provision of installation kits, and support for income-generating activities.

This project, funded to the tune of 80 million FCFA by the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany, relies on close collaboration with community leaders, local authorities, and NGOs to create a safe and favorable environment for the development of women.
Workshop on Monitoring Mechanisms in Tenkodogo
As part of the ReVie project, a reflection workshop was organized on August 1 and 2, 2024 in Tenkodogo, aimed at assessing existing monitoring mechanisms against GBV and discussing the approach of endogenous confidants. This workshop brought together 40 participants, including regional authorities, religious leaders, and NGO representatives, to strengthen their commitment to the fight against GBV.

The discussions provided an opportunity to share inspiring ideas and enriching experiences, strengthening collaboration between the different actors. This workshop marks a crucial step in creating a safe environment for all women in the region.
Together, let us work toward a society where every woman can live in safety and dignity.
